Magnetic Resonance Imaging

Magnetic Resonance Imaging, or MRI, utilizes a large magnet (no radiation) to visualize the bodies internal anatomy. MRI scans are critical for evaluating soft tissue structures such as ligaments, tendons, muscles, and even cartilage injuries. In fact, certain bone injuries such as contusions and stress fractures are better seen on an MRI scan than on a plain xray or CT scan. The MRI is a 1.5 Tesla magnet for the highest resolution and comparable to what is performed at the largest hospital systems, at a fraction of the cost. In most cases, an MRI scan can be performed either during the office visit, or within 48 hours.
